Disclamer: I am in no way a hair expert, I just know what I like for my own hair and I watch Kate Bryan on Instagram and she has changed my hair care tremendously.
One thing I have discovered is the best hair spray in the world. Gone are the days of Aquanet strong hold, that was good for the 80s and 90s but today I am looking for strong hold with movement.
In college in the late 80s I loved a good stiff hair spray. I had a perm and when I got ready in the morning I didn't want my hair to move. On a livestock judging trip we were standing in line at a Mexican restaurant in Kansas City and one of my judging team colleagues, Todd See said "Why does your hair always look like it came out of a box?" (FYI he's a PhD now on staff at North Carolina State, he wasn't back then)
I was horrified, although I told Todd he had no idea what he was talking about and shook it off as a naïve boy with thinning hair. Today he is bald and I have plenty of hair so I guess my hair care was on the right track. (He has a good sense of humor and I'm sure if he read this he doesn't remember and he is cracking a small grin)
But, that comment changed me and my outlook on hair!
That is the long way around to tell you how much I love my current hairspray that gives me hold, but doesn't look like it came out of a box.
Kenra 25 is the bomb. I've been using it for years and have been satisfied, but recently I was told the formula changed and so did the performance.
So I decided to go with Kate Bryan's rec of Verb Strong Hold. I liked this as well but I didn't like the next day hair affect it was having. I felt like I couldn't really style my hair as well the next day. So now I'm using a combination. I use Verb underneath when I tease it up a bit. And I use Kenra 25 as a final spray and I'm happy with that.
I would love to hear what you use! Comment below!
