No fly zones

Good Morning! It's cloudy here on the Knolltop and we got a slight shower, but it's going to be a very beautiful day!

Okay, let me address the comments from yesterday's blog. First of all, thank you, threecollie for your kind words. Tim was very special to all of us, as you would expect, I'm just glad we're past the really raw, difficult stage of grief. Secondly, Pat and Francis....you asked when Tim got his pilot's licence....anyone who knew Tim at all would cringe at the thought of him as a pilot! Can you just see him being arrested by the government for flying his airplane over the White House or in a no fly zone saying, "Since when was this a no fly zone?"

He was constantly getting into fender benders with his trucks. He was an accident waiting to happen. The great thing about Tim was he wasn't intimidated by much and was willing to try anything. Taking his courage in hand, he would jump in with both feet and then ask questions later.

So to answer your question... I don't remember when he got his pilot's licence! But I'm sure someone reading this blog does....mom?

JW's team beat Jackson Christian last night. They took both games and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. Bobby didn't make it to the game...now you know how sick he was. But this morning he's on the mend. He's taking on food and water! He's just really tired.

So...I've got to head to the barn.

Dear Liss, I remember well when Tim got his pilot's license--it was in the fall of 1977. You see, he wasn't able to play football that fall because he had to have hernia surgery so he just decided that he would get his pilot's license in stead. Your Dad and I watched him on his solo flight and I thought "Wow, my baby boy is airbourne". Tim was fun to have around and I see little bits of him in each of our 10 grandsons so he lives on in them. As for the pain of losing a child--well that never really heals. God just helps you learn how to deal with it and when these anniversaries come up the tears are not far awaybut I consider them a tribute to a young man who brought alot of joy into all of our lives! mom

Hi Lissa!
I can't believe Tim has been gone 28 years. He was so much fun and very handsome! I do remember that his death was major jolt - Tim was the first young person that died in my life. As a teen, you think nothing will ever happen. Tim's death changed that niave thought.

I thought you would get a kick out of this. I was driving past one of these huge flat Illinois fields on the way to work this morning and there was a big International disking the field. Today is a beautiful sunny spring day and I had this overwhelming urge to pull over and hijack that tractor and disk for the rest of the day! For some reason field grime, diesel fuel, the smell of freshly turned ground and belting out songs to the radio was way more enticing then the stale air in the office. Needless to say - I fought it and am now sitting at my enclosed desk at work!(

Hey Julie If that urge to drive a big tractor gets overwhelming don't attack some poor unsuspecting farmer--just drive on over to your old stomping grounds and we'll be happy to grant your wish!! We have a few fields that still need some work. In fact I'm off to run the cultimulcher as soon as I get done here{Dick is coming even as I finish} Lissa's mom
