It's a rainy morning here on the Knolltop. We need the rain, but, the neighbors hay got wet and that's not good!
Last evening Jake's game was a blowout. They won 17-3 in four innings. Jake caught most of the game and then came in to pitch and had three K's to end the inning. He was on fire. But then it started to rain and we were so far ahead, they decided to quit. And I almost forgot Jake's double and a triple with an error that brought him home. While it's great to see him have success, he tends to strut around like the lone rooster in a hen house. He needs to stop that and I think his brothers have decided to help him quit his cocky habit.
Today I will work in my flower beds since the rain has softened the ground. I still have to get the rest of my garden in....now I'm getting a little anxious. Does anyone else have their garden totally planted?
And I'd like to address a comment left by a Wisconsin dairy wife about my writing. I so appreciate your kind words about this blog. I'm glad you find this a good place to visit and while we are isolated on our farms, we can still be a "community of farm wives" here. I love to read about life on other farms and how they compare. So, don't worry about this commentary changing too much, this is where I can just write with reckless abandon. I don't have to proof it as much as I do when I write for the papers! This is fun writing! Thanks again for your kind words of encouragement!

Melissa, I enjoy your blog too, sometimes several days go by before I can check it. We got a little rain this morning but not enough and it looks to be done.
I still haven't planted any of my garden or flowers, I have two flats of plants sitting on the deck waiting. So, I guess I better get moving. Pam
PryorVu has most of the "big" garden in. Potatoes, 3 - 90 foot rows were planted week after Easter. Two -90foot rows of peas and one of onions planted the same time. In that area also a long row of broccoli and cauliflower, green beans, 2 rows, parsnip, carrots, rutabuga, beets and yellow beans. 30-35 45 foot rows of sweet corn, a pumpkin patch ,a squash area, 100 tomato plants, 50 peppers of various varieties, a row of glads, 2 - 150 foot rows of watermelon, 50ft of two rows of muskemelon, same for cukes, two kinds, and what else from the top my head I don't remember. Still some emply space. Must come up with some ideas. Oh, for got about two 90 ft rows of cabbage.
All to be given away to friends and the needy.
May gave us nearly five inches of rain.
Nephew's mare had a filly colt on Sunday am.
Life is busy at the PryorVu, but it needs its garden put in also. Maybe this weekend.
Mine was in a week ago. Beans and corn are up already.
